You’ve all heard of it- the talk. Educating your children about sex and their bodies is not a one time deal. Just like any other value (such as honesty and respect) this topic needs to be revisited again and again throughout your child’s life. Creating a safe, open environment around this topic will encourage your children to come to you with their questions rather than their peers or the internet.
Applications: When your child asks you a question about his or her body, give an age-appropriate, truthful answer in that moment. Take advantage of naturally occurring situations to make “the sex talk” an open-ended conversation rather than a one-time lecture.
